Whether she is painting a landscape, a still life or the figure, the watercolors of Cindy Sacks reveal her love of harmony and her fascination with the balance and pattern revealed just beneath the random surface of nature. Though her approach is representational, the paintings she loves best are half-tamed, allowing the flow of the pigment to leave its own characteristic mark.
After receiving her degree, B.A., Magna Cum Laude, from The University of Pennsylvania, Cindy designed children’s products for a decade while continuing to study with many renowned painters. Her work was most influenced by several years at the studio of renowned painter Burton Silverman.
She now finds her inspiration in Northern Westchester, NY, where she lives, paints and shares inspiration with her students at The Katonah Art Center and Chappaqua Continuing Education.
Cindy has received many awards including the Best Watercolor at WATERWORKS, Iona College, NY. She is a Signature member of Northeast Watercolor Society. Her work has been licensed by Art Resources International, Retroneu Design Studio and The National Federation for the Preservation of Wildlife. Cindy’s paintings appear in regional exhibitions, galleries and in corporate and private collections.
